Acura should learn something from the GT launch. Sometimes you don't need to start touting your supercar half a decade before it's launched. In fact, I think surprise was the biggest reason the GT is so popular right now. If Ford had teased it a month ago, the uproar wouldn't be nearly this big.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I like the Hyundai. Give it enough towing capacity and I'd rock one as a daily driver / rally support vehicle.

I can see the Hyundai. A five year old NSX and a Cobalt hybrid with a new grill are head shakers. The Bolt, well it is new and different for GM so I'll let it slide.

The Volt and Bolt were two of the important cars shown off at this event whether anyone here likes it or not. Yes the NSX and GT are infinitely more exciting for us, but the Volt and Bolt open up a whole new metric in EVs and EREVs which is still an emerging market.
They were important releases and deserve to be on this list.

IMO the Bolt is really rather important and not just to car enthusiasts …. thats why I think they placed it so high.

Yea, they really dropped the ball. No new models? Ya done goofed.

Agreed. Most people who buy cars don't go off road or to the race track.

So, GM went and made the Volt look completely boring and anonymous when the car's main problem was that it was just too darn expensive and never met the crazy claims GM gave it.
Also, give up your hopes that the Bolt is going to have a 200 mile range. Might I remind you that we've seen this BS before...

A Cobalt? Really? That's just sad rhetoric.

Does it really look anonymous? It has even more stand-out front fascia and the back-end, despite being different is hardly innocuous.
The Volt is literally better in every way from inside to out. Except that there's a bench seat in the back. I know a ton of people complained about that fact, but I always felt those rear separate seats gave it an upscale feel. Plus the middle seat is essentially worthless with that battery hump.

I mean, it's all subjective. I loved the overall design of the outgoing model. From front to back, you knew that thing wasn't a "normal" car. The new Volt does have a very striking front fascia (those grilles give you a clue that it's not the kind of car you think it is), but otherwise it looks like everything else in the Chevy fleet.
However, that's probably a good thing, as apparently people are polarized by cars that look like space ships.
And of course, the new Volt being better in every measurable way is awesome. I love the Volt and always have, just I think their problem had always been price, rather than styling. :)

IIRC the original claims where made before the whole plug-in/EV rating system got finalized. Also people complained about the old Volt for being too different, I think they're just trying not push away any buyers this time.

To me, that's what made the old Volt my favourite car being made by GM. I mean shoot, even in its current iteration it puts the Prius to shame. A technical marvel.
Only, when it released nobody knew how it worked (I remember seeing so many explanations of what made the Volt different from your normal hybrid) and it had a price that turned so many buyers away.
While I may not be on board with the looks of the new car, hopefully they perfected the concept. :)

It is, but just like the 2015 Cruze, it'll be running on the D2UX modular platform. They're no longer using the aging Delta II platform.
